Inspired by the Fisherman’s Reel quilt in the Nova Scotia Museum collection, made about 1930 in Shelburne County. The name “Fishermen’s Reel” is a uniquely Nova Scotian name; in other places in North America, this pattern is known as Double X or Fox and Geese.
This quilt is part of “19th Century Modern”, an exclusive quilt collection by Marilyn Smulders of Ellemeno Textiles for Attica. Made in Nova Scotia.
Double/queen size. Essex yarn-dyed fabrics (55% linen, 45% cotton) on front, wool batting centre (100% wool), printed cotton backing. Hand quilted. 2021.
